This homeade pie crust recipe is an old one passed down from my husband's side of the family. It can be used for sweet dishes, such as a cherry pie, or savory dishes such as chicken pot pie. It is simple and delicious and not at all complicated. Let me know if you love it as much as I do!

Pie Crust from Scratch

4 cups flour
2 cups softened shortening
1 Tbls sugar
1 Tbls vinegar
1 egg

Cut softenedvshortening into flour using a pastry cutter or other utensil until pea sized crumbles are formed.

Add sugar, vinegar and egg into a measuring cup and fill with water until you reach 1 cup.

Add to flour and shortening mixture and combine until the dough forms.

Makes 4 single pie crusts, plus a little extra.

How to cook perfect eggs? I have a lot of egg recipes. How to save eggs for a long time? You can freeze eggs! Then get them out of the freezer, put in warm water and peel them. Cut the egg into slices and fry. You will get cute mini fried eggs =)

Boil eggs and peel them. How to peel eggs easy? Put them in cold water for a few minutes. Roll eggs in flour, then wrap in seasoned rice. Wrap eggs in bacon. Fry eggs for 3 minutes in a frying pan in oil.

Mix flour and eggs. Pour the dough into the culinary bag. Pour the dough from the culinary bag into the boiling broth with vegetables. You will get egg noodles.

Separate egg yolks from whites. Blend the olives and egg whites until smooth. Pour this mass on a hot frying pan and lay out the egg yolks on top. You get black scrambled eggs!

A simple pie recipe. Put the ketchup on a round piece of dough. Sprinkle with grated cheese and cover with the same piece of dough. Make cuts, not reaching the middle, then wrap these pieces of cake. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. Serve the pie with the sauce. This cake is a great beer snack or a party treat.

SIMPLE AND EASY TOMATO RICE / THAKKALI SADAM

Tomato rice is a flavourful rice preparation with loads of tomatoes in it.This recipe is so delicious and simple to prepare.
It is a wholesome recipe which goes with any curry or just plain curd or raita.

Ingredients :

Tomato - 2 big sized
Onion - 1 no
Green chillies - 3 nos
Dried red chillies - 3 nos
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Coconut oil - 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder - 2 tsp
Or
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Cooked rice - 4 cup
Salt as per taste

Preparation :

Heat 2 tbsp of coconut oil in a pan.Make the flame into low and add mustard seeds to splutter.Then add splitted dried red chillies
along with some curry leaves and saute it for 1 to 2 minutes.Next we can add chopped green chillies and onion and saute till it
became transparent.Add 1/2 tsp salt in it and mix well.After we can add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and saute it for a minute.
Next we can add 2 tsp of kashmiri chilli powder and saute it for a minute or two.Add chopped tomato along with some water if it
is needed and cook till the tomatoes became soft.After we can add 1 tbsp of coconut oil along with some curry leaves and salt as
needed.Mix everything well.Now we can add the cooked rice and gently mix it with the masala.Cook the rice for 1 to 2 minutes in
a low heat and we can off the flame.You can have this rice as it is or with any curry or curd.

SIMPLE KITCHEN HACKS

Making perfect bacon is easier than you might think. I used to forgo making bacon because the gigantic mess it made just wasn’t worth the amazing taste. A few years ago I learned about baking bacon and it has changed my life forever!

Why should you bake your bacon?

Baked bacon does not curl – you get nice straight bacon pieces every time.
Cooks evenly – no white fatty pieces on one end and burnt bacon on the other.
No splattering of bacon grease all over the place.
No need to babysit the bacon. You don’t even have to turn it over!
Tastes delicious!

What you will need to bake bacon:

Shallow baking sheet
Foil (heavy-duty preferable)
Metal cooling rack (optional)
Non-stick cooking spray (optional)
Paper towels

- Line the baking sheet with foil. (You will want to use a baking sheet that has enough of a rim that it contains the bacon drippings.)

- If using a metal cooling rack, spray the rack with non-stick cooking spray, and place the rack inside the baking sheet.

- Place the bacon slices in a single layer either directly on the foil or on a rack. Make sure not to overlap slices.
- Turn the oven on and set to 400 degrees. Do not wait for the oven to preheat. Go ahead and place the pan in the oven.
- Cook the bacon for 12-17 minutes. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your bacon, and how long it takes for your oven to come to temperature. Start checking your bacon around 10 minutes to ensure your bacon doesn’t burn. (Nothing worse than burnt bacon!)
- When the bacon is golden brown, the bacon is done.
- Once the bacon has reached your desired level of crispiness, remove immediately and place on paper towels to soak up the bacon grease.


Another great idea! I hate squeezing oranges but I love fresh squeezed orange juice. So, if you don’t have a juicer, this one costs you nothing but a couple of soda or water bottles!

You’ll just have to try this to see how easy and convenient it is! I couldn’t wait to see how it worked, so I tried it right away and it works like a charm! My kids were so fascinated that you could do this. As a result, I’m buying a lot more oranges! : )

Traditional ricotta cheese is made using whey left over from cheesemaking and it is a wonderful way to utilize whey that might normally be discarded.
I wanted to make traditional Ricotta cheese and here it is. I have made farmer's cheese with two liters of milk and did not throw away the whey because it is precious to me. The result is of course just a little piece of cheese but if you make with more whey, you will get a larger piece of cheese.
